Teatre Principal

The main theatre in Palma was inaugurated in 1667 as a “Comedy’s house”, but just a century afterwards was converted into a military quarters. In 1854 it became a theatre again, but unfortunately a few years after, after a function of the opera Macbeth, a fire completely destroyed the building. The theatre we see nowadays dates back 1860 and was rebuilt following the same drawings as the precedent building. It’s one of the most active cultural centres in the island and it offers a wide range of spectacles, including opera, ballet, musicals, concerts and theatre plays.
