Ses Illetes Beach

Playa Illetes is THE beach you’ve been searching for! White sand stretching as far as the eye can see, and incredibly clear azure waters both contribute to that Caribbean feeling the island is famous for.
There is a disabled ramp for access to the beach in the area called Cavall d’en Borràs. From its coast you can see the small island, which also protect the beach, of Illa des Ponent, Illa de Tramuntana, Escull des Pou, Illa Rodona, Escull d’en Paia, Racó des Palo, in the southern area, and isla de s’Espalmador, in the north. The name comes from here.

This beach attracts a real mixture of people; daytrippers from Ibiza, the rich and famous stopping by in their expensive yachts and locals topping up their tan at the weekend.

In the height of summer Playa Illetes is perhaps the busiest of all Formentera’s beaches, due to its close proximity to the port. The excellent fish restaurants also draw a crowd, so it is best to make a reservation during high season to avoid disappointment.

The northern end of Playa Illetes is the most peaceful part of this long beach and is an official nudist reserve. Watersports can also be found on Playa Illetes.

n.b. Please note that a small charge is now made for parking at this beach (residents have 50% discount).
You can take a bus to the border of the beach (Es Moli de Sal), and then catch an electro-bus (there are 2 operating) to Levante y Illetas – the later is free.

Platja de ses Illetes is situated at four kilometres from la Savina, located on the headland de Trucadors, between Punta des Pas and Platgeta des Carregador.

In this natural setting, which belongs to the Àrea Natural d’Especial Interès de ses Salines nudism is allowed. The posidonia meadow under its water has been declared Human Heritage by the Unesco. This fact together with its crystal clear water explains that it is very popular amongst divers from all over the world who come to this privileged place.

This beautiful virgin and wonderful beach is characterized by the fact of not being very big, it has fine-grained white sand, very gentle slope (at 50 metres from the beach there is a depth of 1,5 metres) and the orientation is toward west. It is one of the most frequented beaches of the beautiful Formentera.
