Monographic Museum of Pollentia

This museum is a section of the Museum of Mallorca and it was created in 1987 with the aim of connecting the archaeological pieces found with its original environment, the Roman city of Pollentia in Alcudia. Currently managed by the city of Alcúdia it’s located in a 14th century building.

The museum is organised around two themes: the public and the private sphere in order to depict the main aspects of Roman culture and life. Most part of the objects dated from 1st and 2nd centuries, the moment of maximum splendor of the city of Pollentia.

The public sphere is shown through different objects that are connected to the forum, as the center of public life, the theater and entertainment activities and the necropolis. The private sector is constructed through household and domestic religion objects, food preparation explanations, table services and personal rooms.
