In 1898 the Mar i Terra Company was created and thus the building that houses it. The main activity of the company was to promote philanthropic and cultural activities, targeting the young people of the picturesque neighbourhood of Santa Catalina. Nowadays, it has several rooms that are used for conferences and workshops, a theatre school and a theatre where several local and international performances take place.
