Hospitalet Vell is a prehistoric site that allows to get acquainted with the two prehistoric periods of Mallorca: the naviform and talaiotic. This settlement is of special importance for two reasons. The first one is that it has a unique talaiot of squared structure where part of the roof has been preserved, one of the few that exist in talaiot’s world. Secondly, a building in this complex has been subject of attention from the scientific community for its possible connection with the recruitment of mercenary troops, especially in 3rd century BC.
The visit to the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Manacor is an interesting complement to better understand this site.
