Cal Marqués de la Torre (Historical Building)

This beautiful building was constructed under the order of Francesc Font de Roqueta, Majorcan soldier and royal attorney, in 1696 from the drawings of the engineer Martin Gil de Gainza, who was then in Mallorca working on the construction of Palma’s walls. The courtyard’s shape is adapted to the site of the medieval walls and the elliptical staircase is a work of 19th century. The building is named after the Archduke Carlos, the Marquis de La Torre, a pretender to the Spanish Crown in the War of Succession.
