Alcudia’s City Walls

The strategic location of the town of Alcudia – which since Roman times was appreciated and recognised – exposed it to the dangers that entailed being close to the coast. King Jaume II built the walls with a double motivation: to defend the local population and to provide a safe place northeast of the island in case of foreign attack.

They were built during 14th century and they delimit the historic center of the city of Alcúdia.
